VOICE LESSONS

Extrasensory founder Jess Aszodi is a specialist in voice and embodiment methods with over 20 years experience performing and teaching on National and International stages. She holds a Doctorate of Music from Griffith University, and a Masters in Fine Arts from the University of California. She currently teaches undergraduate voice at Monash University as well as welcoming all kinds of students at Extrasensory.

Jess’ students come from diverse backgrounds and experiences. While some work in professional music, theatre, music, dance or bodywork, she also loves the challenge of helping novices and hobbyists find freedom, ease, and functionality in their voice.

In addition to teaching singing in the conventional sense, Jess’ work takes a holistic approach that is the result of research and practice into a broad range of bodied modalities. From her operatic background Jess passes on to her students a commitment to finding and holding power, and building bodies in the habit of being present, resonant and expressive. Her teaches is also influenced by study in voice science, artistic research, classical & experimental music, Feldenkrais technique, meditation, somatic integration techniques, yoga, qi gong, Daoist energy work practices and queer, feminist approaches to sensory communication and consent practices.
