Extrasensory is an artist-run space operating on stolen land in Preston, Naarm.

We are a physical space for practice, theory, and performance. We have two large-ish rooms, a kitchen, and a backyard, which serve as a gathering place for artists & practitioners working at the experimental edges of art, sound, voice, and body.

We are hot for the alchemy of paradox, and lean into learning from our failures and contradictions. The exquisite tension of opposites keeps our worlds turning. Our community works with embodied knowledge and raucous experimentation, sometimes entangled with classical traditions and lineages of rigorous training. The wisdom of centuries runs through our veins and we have no idea what we are doing.

Alongside our curated public program, we host community groups, educators, and artists seeking space to develop, rehearse, teach, and perform.

Extrasensory is currently led and administered by Jess Aszodi (founder, singer) and Gianni R Posadas Sen (flautist, artist, producer, and curator) and a team of awesome volunteers and creators.

We welcome contact from potential hirers, as well as artists and practitioners who would like to be considered for Extrasensory’s public program.

Extrasensory exists in the grey zone between arts organisation and community space, sustained largely through volunteer labour. We ask for patience in correspondence, and for understanding that we cannot offer institutional-style support - there is no institution here.

Currently (as of May 2026), we are booking for September 2026 onward.

We operate on Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung land, which always was and always will be Aboriginal land.

How does space hire work?

What’s the deal with Extrasensory’s Public Programming?

Currently, there are three main ways the space is used:

1. Hirers & Co-presenters
Folks running their own programming using their own platform and booking system.

2. Extrasensory Public Programming
Shows and classes booked through Extrasensory's hosted Humanitix, with promotional and production support from Extrasensory. These are the events you will find listed on this website and featured in our social media. These shows and workshops resonate strongly with Extrasensory’s values and are the kinds of things we bleed to see more of in this world. Usually they were curated-by or collaboratively devised-with the Extrasensory team.

3. Resident Artists
Artists we love, using the space free of charge, by negotiation or for specific projects or performances.

If you would like to use the space, and are confused about which category you fall under, let us know in the contact form below.
